Kate Cotner is the External Affairs Manager for Florida Power & Light Company in Central and South Palm Beach County. She is responsible for advocating on behalf of FPL, and she works with the local elected officials and key community stakeholders to find solutions that benefit the Palm Beach County community and the State of Florida.
Previously, Kate served as a Principal Attorney with Florida Power & Light Company’s General Counsel’s Office where she was the primary attorney for the External Affairs Business Unit in the State of Florida and advocated for the company before the Florida Public Service Commission a number of regulatory issues. Before joining the Florida Power & Light Company family, she worked as the Assistant County Attorney and Legislative Liaison for Indian River County and in the General Counsel’s Office of the Chief Financial Officer of the State of Florida.
Kate earned her law degree at Florida Coastal School of Law and also has a Bachelor of Science in political science with an emphasis on international affairs from Florida State University. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce, Project LIFT, and the Gulfstream region for Leadership Florida.
